How to update an iDirect X5 Satellite Modem/Router

Whether you switch iDirect Service Providers or missed an online update, you will be required to update the configration files and parameters in your iDirect X5 Satellite Modem/Router Manually.

The instructions for doing so are the same for the iDirect X1 and iDirect X3 Satellite Modem/Routers as well.

The first step in the process is to get your updated files from your iDirect Service Provider which could include:

  • iSite version 4.1.2.2 or the latest version of software that is used to update the X1, X3, and/or X5 modems
  • Remote package files
  • Remote options file

You will need the following to perform the update:

  • Computer
  • Ethernet Cable
  • Cisco Console Cable (Not Needed, but Recommended)

Change your computer IP Address (Windows)

    1.  Go to Control Panel > Network >
      Internet > Network and Sharing
      Center > Change adapter settings.
      Right-click Local Area Connection
      and select Properties.
    2. Double-click “Internet Protocol
      Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
    3. Select the “Use the following IP
address” radio button and change the IP address to be one number higher than the modem’s IP address.

For example, if your modem IP address is 192.168.0.1, then your computer IP address: 192.168.0.2
      Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: (Your Modem IP address)
