Re-Commissioning your HT2000W Modem

This is the process for re-commissioning a HughesNet HT2000W Satellite Internet Modem/Router!  We recommend that you only attempt this process AFTER consulting with our support team!  This process is normally required after a modem has been unplugged and/or offline for long periods of time or if someone reset the modem for whatever reason!

Open a browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)

Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar and click go or hit enter, or whatever!

The HughesNet modem home page should pull up!  (It’s a page built into your HughesNet modem and it should pull up even if your system is not online!)

Check and see if you have an >Install link on the left side of that page, if not, look for and click on the little slightly hidden “i” icon at the top right of that page next to the English Language Selection drop-down box to enter the advanced menu!

Click on installation, and install.

Depending on the status of your modem, you will either get to a page that asks for your latitude and longitude or a page with blue buttons at the top.

If you get the latitude and longitude page, you will need to make sure your latitude and longitude are in those boxes correctly, then select the satellite you wish to connect to (E19 in most areas of the US and then click submit!

If instead, you get a page with blue buttons at the top, just click on re-install.  The modem may reboot into installation mode, so if you were connected to the modem via WiFi you will need to reconnect to it once it’s powered back up!  Next, it should take you to the lat/long page.  Make sure your latitude and longitude are entered correctly, then select the satellite you wish to connect to (E19 in most areas of the US and then click submit!

Now you will see a signal strength page!  The signal shown on the right is your current signal strength!  It should be over 100 in most areas, unless you have bad weather happening around you!  This is where you would take a few minutes to re-peak your satellite dish if you wish to do so!

If your signal is good, simply click the blue NEXT button at the top of the page to continue!

If your modem asks you for a SAN and PIN, you will need to enter that and then continue, but if your modem has already been commissioned to your account, it should bypass all of that and you should see a bunch of green arrows and your modem should come online!

Enter San and Pin

You should see a message that says Installation Complete and you can go back to the home page at http://192.168.0.1. You can visit the status page by clicking the Modem Status link at the top of the page and make sure you have a green status button!  If it’s green or not green for that matter, you can click on it to see what’s happening!

It might take 5 minutes or so as the modem will probably download an update to complete the installation and all of the arrows should be green.

You can go back to the modem home page and if it is online you should see the data circles for your account similar to the pics below.
