I wrote a blog post a year or so ago entitled: Starlink is NOT all it’s hyped up to Be! This is an update to that post!
In the swiftly evolving world of satellite internet, the strides Starlink has made in recent years are undeniably impressive. Offering increasingly reliable connections, accommodating obstructions better than before, and launching more satellites for better coverage, Starlink has transformed from an emerging player to a powerful contender in the internet access landscape.
However, it’s essential to remember that while Starlink might be a compelling solution for many people across diverse locations and applications, it may not necessarily be the optimal choice for everyone. Internet needs are as varied as the individuals and businesses seeking them, and finding the right solution involves looking at a spectrum of options.
A perfect example of this spectrum is the recent launch of OneWeb. Tailored primarily for Business & Enterprise connectivity solutions, OneWeb presents a robust alternative to Starlink. With its own unique advantages, OneWeb is carving out its own space in the satellite internet market, adding to the richness of choices available to users.
The key takeaway here is that the choice of internet provider is dependent on individual or business needs. Each satellite internet solution has its strengths and niche, with some excelling in specific areas or applications more than others. Starlink has shown immense promise, especially over the last six months, with notable improvements in speed, reliability, and compatibility with various site conditions. However, it stands alongside other strong options like HughesNet, ViaSat, and now OneWeb, each with its unique offerings.
At Lone Pine Technology, we understand that this ever-changing landscape can be overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to guide you through these developments and help you find the solution that best suits your needs. Whether you’re considering Starlink, OneWeb, or any other service, we offer comprehensive online virtual site surveys, and for those in our local service areas, onsite Starlink Site Surveys and Installations.
To put it succinctly, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Starlink, with its rapidly improving technology and broadening accessibility, is becoming an increasingly attractive option for many users. But is it the best solution for you? Let Lone Pine Technology help you answer that question. Our expertise and commitment to finding the right fit for your needs will ensure you’re well-equipped to make the most informed choice.
Stay tuned to this space for more updates on the shifting sands of internet technology, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance in your internet journey. In a world where options are plenty, your optimal internet solution awaits you.
Interested in Starlink?
We offer site surveys for Starlink as well as Installation services in and around our local service areas.
Starlink Equipment must be ordered from Starlink.com but we have mounts and accessories for use with Starlink that are stronger and will provide you better reliability than what Starlink currently offers.
For instance, the Starlink mounts and accessories are made from a type of material that simply does not hold up well in harsh weather or winter conditions like we can get here in Montana USA. Although there is a heater on the surface of the antenna, the mounts that they offer do not get your antenna high enough above the snow depths that we often see around here, as well as in other places around the globe.  Your antenna could be damaged if and when it needs to move, and sliding snow has been known to break some of the Starlink OEM mounts.Â
So, we use our own mounts and accessories for Starlink…something we know is going to last you many years!
